Greg Adams Arranger

Greg Adams is a trumpet, flugelhorn player, music arranger and composer with a rich musical background spanning over 5 decades. Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Greg began making waves in the music scene at a young age. He was already an accomplished musician in high school, earning him first trumpet chair as a freshman and writing arrangements for the Westmoor High School Stage-Jazz band and went onto leading first place award winning competitions year after year.
Adams joined the legendary band Tower of Power as a founding member for their debut Album East Bay Grease.
He spent 25 years with the band, crafting distinctive horn arrangements that shaped their unique sound. One of the notable arrangements, “What Is Hip?” (1973) earned him a Grammy® Award Nomination 1981. Greg collaborated with numerous iconic artists and made the TOP horn section a sought-out entity all its own.
Adams has performed on over 3000 recordings. Greg has lent his sound to Elton John, Rod Stewart, Santana, Phish, Celine Dion, Luther Vandross, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Shaffer, Little Feat, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Chicago, The Eurhythmics, Lyle Lovett, Heart, Linda Ronstadt, Aaron Neville, The Brothers Johnson, Wilson Pickett, Huey Lewis and the News, Raphael Saadiq, Al Green, Quincy Jones, B.B. King, Ray Charles, Terrence Trent D’arby, Josh Groban and Dionne Warwick to name a very few. Adams horn and string arrangements have been credited on over 40 RIAA Certified Gold and Platinum Albums.
In addition to his work with Tower of Power and as solo artist, Adams has led the band East Bay Soul since 2009, releasing six albums showcasing his signature blend of jazz funk and soul. The group features a diverse line up of musicians and their music incorporates a blend of soul, jazz funk and R&B in their own style.
